A male robber shot and injured a middle-aged woman in a Brooklyn butcher shop Friday.

Police say a woman in her 50s was confronted by a male with a gun inside Romeo Brothers Meats and Foods in Dyker Heights Friday afternoon. They say he shot her once in the torso and fled on foot with a bag of money.

Neighbors said the store is a friendly, family-owned Italian landmark.

"These guys come outside, they say hello to everybody. Everybody knows them, brothers," said one local. "So, that's why I was wondering, like, what's going on?"

"I can't say that the neighborhood's bad. You know, there are bad people that come in and do stuff," said another.

As of late Friday, the victim was in stable condition at Lutheran Hospital. No arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
