The first snowflakes of the season arrived in the city Saturday.
The snow was not accumulating on the ground, but as of late Saturday it was making the streets slicker.
People in Union Square were mostly delighted by the snowy weather as cold rain turned into snow flurries and said it was a sign of the season.
"It's good for ski season, so I'm happy to see it. It doesn't seem to be impeding traffic either way, so I think it's fine," said one New Yorker.
"It's like winter, might as well feel like winter," said another.
"Snow is beautiful. It's Christmas coming, white Christmas, white New Year's. Love it," said a third.
Winter officially begins on December 21.
