Fresh off a strong showing in the mayor's race, City Comptroller Bill Thompson could be eyeing a run for Senate.
The New York Times reports Thompson is considering challenging Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in next year's Democratic primary.
Thompson lost to Michael Bloomberg in the mayor's race, but by only five percentage points -- a lot less than what polls had predicted.
The newspaper says Thompson is also weighing a possible run for State Comptroller or taking another shot at the mayor's race in 2013.
