A Queens man who prosecutors say admitted to killing his wife and their 14-year-old son is blaming the crime on his split personality.
Otto Herrarte, 48, was arraigned last night on charges of second-degree murder, weapons possession, and evidence tampering.
Investigators say he slit the throats of his wife Edna and their son Daniel and stuffed them in a closet. Their bodies were discovered inside their Corona apartment Saturday.
Prosecutors say Herrarte told police his alter ego Roberto committed the crime.
If convicted, he faces up to 50 years to life in prison. He is due back in court late next month.
Herrarte's 15-year-old son, who was not hurt, is staying with relatives.
Queens Assemblyman Jose Peralta is putting together a college fund for the teenager.
