At least three students in Queens took a precautionary trip to the hospital Monday after complaining of a headache on the same day they received their H1N1 vaccine.

It happened at PS 124 in South Ozone Park, which houses grades K through 8.

Health officials say after receiving the vaccine, the kids were kept in a room for up to 20 minutes for observation. That's when officials say one student complained of a headache.

In the end, 16 students said they felt sick.

Of the three students who were taken away by ambulance, NY1 has learned that one had not even received the vaccine.

"Actually I was talking to one of the other ladies over here and they said the upper kids had a break out. I just guess I just have to wait. I just hope it's not any of my kids. I'm sorry for whoever kids it is. but, -- oh my God," said one parent.

"No one said anything to us. We just ran in and took our kids. That's all," said another parent.

So far, tens of millions of doses of H1N1 flu vaccine have been given out across the country.

Health officials say it is possible to feel side effects after receiving the H1N1 or seasonal flu vaccine.

The Centers for Disease Control, which monitors the vaccine, says reactions are usually mild. They happen soon after getting inoculated and last only one or two days.

The CDC says mild symptoms include soreness, redness, or swelling at the point of injection if you receive the shot.

Fainting, headache, muscle aches, fever, and nausea can also occur.

More serious side effects could be signs of an allergic reaction and include high fever, behavioral changes, difficulty breathing, hoarseness, wheezing, swelling around the eyes or lips, hives, paleness, and a fast heart beat or dizziness.

Since the flu vaccine is grown in chicken eggs, people with an egg allergy should avoid it altogether.
