The New York Police Department has increased patrols in the Far Rockaway section of Queens as they hunt for the man who raped two women in the neighborhood in as many days.
Investigators say a man, seen above in a police sketch, was armed with a gun when he approached a 25-year-old woman as she was leaving the Beach 67th Street subway station around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say he forced her into an alleyway behind a church where he sexually assaulted and robbed her before taking off.
The suspect is also believed to have attacked a 21-year-old woman with a gun as she was walking to a bus stop about 11 blocks away near Beach 56th Street around 5:30 a.m. yesterday.
Police say he took the victim to the sixth floor landing of a nearby building and sexually assaulted and robbed her.
The suspect is described as being between 20 to 25 years of age, 5-feet-11-inches to 6-feet-tall and about 170 pounds with an athletic build.
