The state is giving retailers an extra week to comply with the new water bottle bill.
Consumers were going to have to pay a nickel deposit on bottled water starting Saturday. But that date is being pushed back to November 8.
A spokesperson for the Department of Environmental Conservation says it's being done to allow the supply chain to catch up to the requirement.
The spokesperson also says those who can meet the requirement should comply sooner.
The Food Industry Alliance says stores need time to reprogram cash registers and bottle return machines.
