Police are looking for a teenage boy who allegedly shot and killed a 17-year-old boy at a bus stop in front of a Brooklyn school today.

Malachi Cotton left Metropolitan Diploma Plus High School at the corner of Hegeman and Rockaway Avenues in Brownsville, Brooklyn when he was shot.

Witnesses say they heard five gunshots, which sent students running for cover.

"When I came outside I saw the boy laying on the floor holding his stomach rolling. And people were telling him to stay on his back and don't move and don't try to speak, because the ambulance was on the way," said one witness. "And he tried to say that he got shot and that was saying he was shot and that he was in a lot of pain."

Cotton was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he died.

School officials told NY1 that the doors to the high school were locked following the deadly shooting and parents were called to pick up their children.

"It's terrible because they're young kids and they're supposed to be our future. And this is what the future's going to turn out to?" said a parent. "Something's got to be done about it because it don't make no sense."

"When they told me the age of the kid, then I knew it wasn't my kids because my kids are babies. But I was very concerned, because it's a scary situation," said another.

A candlelight vigil will be held outside of the school on Tuesday night.

As of early Tuesday, no arrests had been made.
