Schools Chancellor Joel Klein took his message of school reform Monday to the Partnership for New York City.
Klein says students in all five boroughs have shown major improvements on math and English tests since Mayor Michael Bloomberg took control of the system in 2002.
The chancellor says there's still work to be done, but believes a partnership between education and business makes sense.
"The partnership and our members have put a lot of money into a number of programs, to recruit and train principals to create the research initiate and other programs that we hope are resulting in real change," said Kathryn Wylde of the Partnership for New York City.
"I expect both in this city and throughout the nation, New York City's business community will be strong supporters of school reform," Klein said. "They realize that the future of this country competitively depends on significant improvements in education."
Klein says while Queens and Staten Island have moved up significantly in the rankings of New York's 62 counties, test scores from the Bronx are still last in the state.
