Mayor Michael Bloomberg marched up Fifth Avenue Sunday for the 46th Annual Hispanic Day Parade, where thousands of spectators lined the streets to check out the music, costumes and floats.

The mayor also used the parade as an opportunity to tout his commitment to the Hispanic community.

"We have to make sure that immigration and language access and some people who don't speak english well are taken advantage of by others -- we have to protect them," Bloomberg said. So there are a number of things. But today is a day to say gracias for all the things we do have, and tomorrow morning we can go back to working on the things we don't."

Mayoral candidate Bill Thompson canceled his appearance at the 33rd Annual Bronx Columbus Day Parade.

His campaign says he was preparing for Tuesday's debate, which NY1 is hosting LIVE at El Museo Del Barrio beginning at 7 p.m.
