With fall just around the corner, NoLita's newest hotspot is serving up comfort food that's perfect for those crisp autumn cravings. NY1's Michelle Park filed the following report.

Having a mac attack? Step into Macbar, the new one-stop macaroni and cheese spot, located in NoLita.

The macaroni shaped restaurant offers a variety of gourmet-infused mac and cheese dishes -- expanding the definition of the comfort food staple.

"We have things like duck confit, we make a Mac Stroganoff, Mac Shroom, Mac Lobsta', so it's a little bit different than just normal mac and cheese," said Macbar executive chef Michael Ferraro.

According to Zagat, the teensy takeout is an extension of the popular NoLita restaurant Delicatessen. While Chef Michael Ferraro was serving up delicious plates of modern American comfort food at Delicatessen, he saw the need for a mac and cheese specialty shop.

"We just sat around and we thought about delicious comfort food and how we could turn it into mac and cheese. And we came up with things like the Mac Reuben which is a take on the reuben sandwich in the version of macaroni and cheese," Ferraro said.

Chef Ferraro recently walked NY1 through one of his other creations, Mac Quack -- the duck confit based treat.

First, take precooked pasta and warm it up in water, making sure not to overcook. Next, saute the onions until they caramelize. Add the duck confit, fresh garlic, thyme and shallots. Saute and then add the white cheese base of mascarpone and fontina. Cover with loads of fontina cheese and then into the oven it goes until the top is browned.

Macbar also boasts its very own line of baked goods, energy drinks and bottled water.

Macbar is not yet rated in the Zagat guide but the prices are listed as inexpensive.
