Children took part in a clothing swap event in Chelsea Saturday, the first of its kind to focus on young people.

Each person had to bring one item or accessory.

But there was no limit to how many clothes could be swapped and taken home.

Organizers say it's a great way to help the environment because items are reused and waste is reduced and children get to update their wardrobes.

"People can come in and really help themselves. It's like a treasure hunt. They can find some favorites and take it home for free," sid Suzanne Agasi, the founder of Clothing Swap Inc.

"I think it's better than shopping, because not only do you get new clothes and other people around you get new clothes, but you can also support a great cause," said swap participant Nicole Zivkovic.

The leftover clothing is being donated to charity.
