A verdict was reached Wednesday in the trial of the woman accused of killing and mutilating her father.

The Queens District Attorney says Brigitte Harris was found guilty of second degree manslaughter, but was acquitted of the more serious charges of First Degree Manslaughter and Second Degree Murder.

Prosecutors says she asphyxiated and castrated her father, Eric Goodridge, at her Queens home.

Harris claimed she was acting out of rage because of years of being abused and molested by her father.

"We came to a decision pretty quickly. None of us felt that she deserved to get any murder charges or anything. So we decided on Manslaugther II," said one juror.

"The jury found that was okay. It was okay in terms that it wasn't murder, and it was serious physical injury. She needed to do what she needed to do to stop him. Because he just wouldn't stop," said Defense Attorney Arthur Aidala.

The DA says Harris faces up to 15 years in prison when she's sentenced on October 29th.
