The dean of an all-boys Bronx high school was charged Tuesday afternoon with forcibly touching a student.
Police say Jonathon Huff was arrested after they received a 911 call about a boy being sexually assaulted.
It happened during a weekend class at the Urban Assembly Academy of History and Citizenship for Young Men, which is located on the Taft High School campus in Mount Eden.
"I can't tell you what a person is capable of doing but I wouldn't picture him being capable of doing that," said former student Iris Mendy.
"Every morning he'd open the doors, humble, saying hi to everybody, he wasn't that type of guy that would be touching a 14-year-old," said former student Ivan Echavarria.
Huff has been charged with sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the United Federation of Teachers said, "Such serious accusations must be investigated. Sexual contact between staff and students is always inappropriate."
The Department of Education says Huff will not be allowed back at the school while the investigation is underway.
