The Upper East Side swelled with German pride Saturday as thousands of New Yorkers watched the 52nd annual Steuben Parade.
The parade, which featured marchers in traditional German costumes singing German songs, began at 67th Street and Fifth Avenue and marched up to 86th Street.
This year's themes included the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the 40th anniversary of the moon landing by German-American Neil Armstrong and the 60th anniversary of the Federal Republic of Germany.
"I liked the guys in the fancy costumes," said one onlooker. "And me and my cousins, we always come here every year."
"It's great. My wife's from Dusseldorf and I love it, it's a lot of fun," said another.
Dozens of groups from Germany, the tri-state area, California and Philadelphia took part in the parade and celebrated the contributions Germans made to American culture.
"The famous Brooklyn Bridge was designed by [John] Roebling the German, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, [scientist] Albert Einstein, we can go on and on," said an onlooker. "German culture is big in the United States."
The grand marshals included Staten Island-Brooklyn Congressman Michael McMahon.
After the parade, hundreds headed to Central Park for an Oktoberfest celebration.
