Spring fashion week is in bloom, as Vivienne Tam and Custo Barcelona provide showers of color for Fashion Week. NY1's George Whipple filed the following report.

Custo Barcelona recreated an 1980s disco for Fashion Week, where the models literally pranced down the runway. The collection was also reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy.

"Our DNA is color. It's about creating movement," said designer Custo Dalmau.

The show literally exploded with colors and the fabrics, fringe, sequins and the meticulous attention to detail.

While Custo Barcelona was all about movement, Vivienne Tam was all about butterflies.

"It's about Woodstock, butterflies, freedom, transformations, independence, changes," said designer Vivienne Tam.

Uniquely, Tam created a notebook for HP, which sponsored the show.
For Tam, it was literally all about butterflies, with prints, appliques and cutouts.

Even in a city in the midst of a recession, fashion can lift spirits a little higher.
