New York remains the safest big city in America.
The latest nationwide FBI crime report released yesterday says crime dropped four percent last year in the city, compared to the year before.
That outpaces the national decline.
The New York City Police Department says the trend is continuing so far this year.
According to NYPD numbers, this year, murders are down 15 percent, rapes are down 12 percent, and robberies have dropped 17 percent.
Combined, crime is down 11 percent citywide compared to the same period in 2008.
