Following a number of deadly attacks on livery cab drivers, a summit was held Monday in the Highbridge section of the Bronx to discuss safety and security.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Junior and New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers President Fernando Mateo hosted the event.

Drivers from more than 90 bases operating in the Bronx took part.

"An attack on one driver, or one family, or one Bronxite, who's doing nothing other than working hard for his or her family to reach the American dream is something that we cannot tolerate," Diaz Junior said.

The summit follows the deadly attacks on cab drivers in the Bronx and nearby Yonkers last month.

Two additional drivers have been killed during robberies in the city this year.
