The entertainment industry is stepping in to "Save the Music" at one Staten Island school with the help of some celebrity guests.

The music program at PS 22 in Graniteville received $30,000 Monday from the cable channel's Save the Music Foundation.

Students at the school became an Internet sensation for covering pop songs.

"I don't want to just keep my programs centered around the chorus. I want to be able to bring all my students something special with music and that it just something I've always asked my principal for," said PS 22 Chorus Director Gregg Breinberg. "We were just never able to work out the funding for it."

"I think they're only two or three days into the school year and to see them performing today it's absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see where they're going to take this," said Paul Cothran of VH1's Save the Music Foundation.

The cast of the movie "Fame" was also on hand to perform with the children and share in the celebration.
