Health officials say the flu virus is going around unusually early this year and 98 percent of the cases are H1N1.

The Centers for Disease Control say there are cases of the virus in every state, with the highest concentration mainly in the southeastern United States.

Officials say H1N1 mainly affects children and young adults.

The CDC also released the good news that the vaccine works quickly with a single dose and takes effect in about 8 to 10 days.

Supplies of the H1N1 vaccine are expected to be available by the middle of next month.
