Governor David Paterson's choice to lead the Metropolitan Transportation Authority says he has no plans to bring congestion pricing to the city.
According to reports, Jay Walder said at a State Senate confirmation hearing that he will not push for a toll on vehicles entering the city if he gets the job, even though he helped implement a similar plan in London.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposal to make drivers pay to enter parts of Manhattan during rush hour would have helped out the cash-strapped MTA, but the plan never made it past the State Assembly.
Walder is expected to be confirmed by the State Senate on Thursday.
