Disgraced former Governor Eliot Spitzer is refuting a story in today's New York Post which claimed he is mulling a run for statewide office next year.

The Post reported that less than 18 months after he resigned from office in a prostitution scandal, Spitzer is considering a bid for state comptroller or the United States Senate seat held by Kirsten Gillibrand.

The paper says Spitzer has been talking with friends about the possibilities.

Spitzer told NY1 that the story is "totally untrue," and a source close to him told the Post that Spitzer is not interested in running for office again.
