A Manhattan man was arrested Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of an off-duty bouncer outside an East Village nightclub over the weekend.
Police say Eric Pagan, 42, was killed and two others injured when Louis Rodriguez, 29, fired a weapon outside Forbidden City on Avenue A near East 13th Street early Sunday morning.
Pagan was the club's regular bouncer, but was off-duty when he was shot.
Friends say Pagan was raising two kids on his own after his wife died of cancer.
"He was a tough guy. It's a shame. Working at that place and raising his kids. Little clash of cultures and who knows what set it off," said a friend. "It's a terrible thing. I feel for his kids."
Salvador Moran, 30, and Robert Calbo, 31, were also shot, and are recovering.
According to police, Rodriguez faces charges of murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
A viewing will be held for Pagan Wednesday and Thursday evening at Redden's Funeral Home on West 14th Street.
His funeral will be held Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, on 14th Street and 1st Avenue.
