A "masked" invader briefly eluded authorities at City Hall Tuesday.
Officials say a 25-pound raccoon got away after being captured earlier in the day by bending back the top of its cage.
The animal climbed down construction scaffolding on the back side of the building, where he eluded animal control agents for about a half hour.
"We get an animal like this, we're concerned for the public health aspect of it," said Mike Pastore of Animal Care & Control. "We don't want somebody to encounter a raccoon coming across, so I'm glad that we were able to get him out the area. And we're trying to make sure that we can release it appropriately."
An animal control official says the raccoon showed no sign of being sick or injured.
The worker nicknamed the animal "Houdini" and says he was the strongest raccoon he had ever seen.
