The Caribbean came to Midtown Sunday as the 27th annual Dominican Day Parade made its way up Sixth Avenue.

Tens of thousands lined the streets as politicians, musicians and Dominican celebrities marched from 36th Street to 56th Street.

Many who came out for the parade say they didn't let the threat of rain keep them away from celebrating.

"It's a great day for dominican culture," said one parade goer.

"We so proud to be Dominican. That's why we're here. We don't care if it rains or not, we're going to be here for the parade," said another parade goer.

The event was originally held in Washington Heights, but has since moved downtown as the city's Dominican population grew.
