Frustrated Brooklyn residents voiced their opinions Wednesday at a public meeting over the development of the Broadway Triangle.

Residents and community activists called on Borough President Marty Markowitz to reopen the development process.

They say the city handed over the land, which sits between Bushwick, Bed-Stuy and Williamsburg, to two non-profit groups without fair bidding.

"This is not really a plan. This was a deal that was made behind closed doors between a very powerful political assemblyman in our community with two organizations," said Brooklyn resident Juan Ramos. "He basically handed over the voice of the community to these two organizations for them to develop and do what they want in our community."

"I'd like us to be included. Not just as an organization but as a community. It's not just different rules for different fools," said Brooklyn resident Sonia Iglesias. "It should apply to everyone and we should all be allowed to have our say."

Residents opposed to the development say the current plans do not include enough affordable housing units.

NY1 has reached out to the city department of housing preservation and development for comment.
