Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce wrapped up two days of testimony today in front of a grand jury which is weighing gun possession charges against former teammate Plaxico Burress.
Pierce spent several hours yesterday and two hours today in front of the panel gathering facts about the night last November that Burress shot himself in the leg at a Manhattan nightclub.
Authorities say Pierce, who was at the club with Burress during the incident, drove him to the hospital and took the gun to Burress' home in Totowa, New Jersey. Pierce's lawyer, Michael Bachner argues his client did what anyone would do in that situation.
"We are extremely confident that they are going to come down with the conclusion that we've been saying for many, many months, that Mr. Pierce acted responsibly, intelligently and as any responsible citizen would have acted under similar circumstances," said Bachner. "And we're confident that they will do the same."
Burress appeared for about three hours Wednesday in front of the grand jury considering gun possession charges against him. If indicted on those charges and convicted, he faces a minimum 3.5 year prison sentence.
Pierce could be charged for allegedly taking the gun to Burress' home.
