An elevator operator was indicted Thursday on second-degree murder charges, in connection with the death of a cleaning woman in a Manhattan office building.
Authorities say Joseph Pabon snatched Eridania Rodriguez, 46, on July 7 as she worked on an empty floor.
They say he smothered her with tape, hid her body in an air conditioning shaft and then told his manager he was ill and went home.
Pabon's attorney says his client is not guilty.
Rodriguez's body was found four days later.
Pabon is due back in court on August 24.
