The boyfriend of a pregnant woman found stabbed to death in Brooklyn earlier in the week plead not guilty to the crime Saturday night at his arraignment.
The Brooklyn district attorney says Saul Mendez, 22, was arrested Saturday on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of 26-year-old Yorcechi Flores.
He is being held without bail until his next court date on July 23rd.
Investigators were called to the women's home on 58th Street in Borough Park Friday morning. They found she had been stabbed a number of times and was unconscious; she died a short time later.
"I woke up from a rumbling of an ambulance car around 5:30," said one Borough Park resident. "This place is usually a nice neighborhood. I never would have expected this kind of thing to happen."
Neighbors say Flores had several other children.
