A grand jury is investigating the death of a woman at the Kings County Hospital emergency room.
It comes after a report by the city Department of Investigation, which says hospital staffers falsified records and lied to authorities in an attempt to cover up the neglect of 49-year-old Esmin Green.
Surveillance video showed workers ignoring Green for an hour after she collapsed from a blood clot and was convulsing on the floor. By the time a nurse checked her pulse, Green was dead.
Six hospital employees lost their jobs and the city settled a wrongful death lawsuit with Green's family for $2 million.
NY1 has reached out to the Health and Hospitals Corporation for comment. A spokeswoman has said that they've since changed the culture, training and policies and procedures in the psychiatric emergency program.
