City straphangers will be reaching a little deeper into their pockets starting Sunday as the MTA's long-awaited fare hike goes into effect.
The base subway and bus fare will now rise a quarter to $2.25.
Thirty-day unlimited ride MetroCards will rise from $81 to $89. Fourteen-day cards will rise to $51.50, and seven-day cards will go up to $27.
A one-day pass will run $8.25.
Riders are reminded that unlimited MetroCards may still be good for several more weeks. The MTA says one-day passes purchased by Sunday will be good through July 6th. Weekly unlimited passes will be valid through July 12th and two-week passes will be good through July 19th. Thirty-day cards will be good through August 4th.
