Mayor Michael Bloomberg has extended his deadline for a deal to rebuild the World Trade Center site.

The mayor has given developer Larry Silverstein until Monday to settle his dispute with the site's owner, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Silverstein is trying to renegotiate the terms of his lease while asking the agency for more than $3 billion to finance two of the three towers he wants to build. However, the Port Authority will only commit $800 million for one tower.

In a statement, Silverstein says they have made significant progress and are confident they can find a way to move forward.

Bloomberg also says he has spoken to all parties, adding "Everyone remains committed to finding a resolution."
