Former New York City Police Department Commissioner Bernard Kerik pleaded not guilty today to charges of lying to the White House while being vetted to be Homeland Security secretary.

Kerik is accused of making a false statement to President George W. Bush's aides when he denied having any financial dealings with contractors looking to do business with the city while he was a public official.

Prosecutors say contractors spent more than $255,000 renovating Kerik's apartment.

On his online Twitter account, Kerik blasted the case, saying "Indicted for a third time on the same charge. Unprecedented, selective, and overreaching prosecution? You tell me."

A federal judge in Washington, D.C. has postponed the case until next year, after Kerik's trial on related corruption and tax charges in New York.
