Democratic Assemblyman Vito Lopez announced today he will resign in June, but not because of claims he sexually harassed female staffers. Instead, Lopez said he will leave Albany to focus on his campaign for City Council.

His announcement comes as the State Assembly is beginning proceedings to expel the 71-year-old lawmaker. The State secretly paid two women $103,000 to settle the sexual harassment claims. But a special prosecutor ruled this week that Lopez shouldn't face criminal charges for subjecting the women to inappropriate touching and comments.

Governor Cuomo said today, "Vito Lopez should not spend another day in office, let alone a whole month." Do you agree? Should Vito Lopez stay in office until June or resign immediately? Do you support the effort in Albany to expel him from office? Would you vote for him again? What does this case tell you about the culture of politics in Albany?
