The Call Blog: With Presidential Debates Done, Final Push Begins

Strange doings, these elections. They really do bring out the worst in Americans. My Facebook feed was littered with angry rants from my "friends" last night. Republicans trashing Obama, Democrats laughing at Romney. It seems to get worse every four years. Or, maybe it's just easier than ever to share your stupidity...

Two short weeks from today, Americans will elect their next leader. Making their final push, President Obama and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney spent the day campaigning in swing states that likely hold the key to the White House.

Last night, tens of millions of Americans watched the candidates battle over foreign policy in the third and final debate. The topics included violence in Syria, trade with China, Iran's nuclear ambitions, and the role of the U.S. military.

Which candidate won last night's debate on foreign policy? What were the highs and lows? Did you get your questions answered? If you are an undecided voter, what will you do come election day?

Send your thoughts using the link below.

THE PRESIDENT WON THE DEBATE. WE HAVE TO CONGRATULATE BOB SCHIEFFER FOR KEEPING THIS SESSION UNDER ORDER. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE WAY HE CONTROLLED THIS EVENT. WHEN ROMNEY, RIGHT OUT OF THE BLOCKS REPLIED HOW HE WOULD GO ABOUT AND TRACKING TERRORISTS AND KILLING THEM AT THE SAME TIME. WHAT PUZZLED ME WAS, WHO IN THE WORLD WAS HE REFERRING TO? THEN, HE WENT OFF THE DEEP END, WHEN HIS WORK ETHIC AND CONSIDERATIONS MADE NO SENSE AT ALL. ROMNEY TRIED TO GET THE PRESIDENT TO ENGAGE IN A PISSING CONTEST, AND THE MODERATOR, STEPPED UP AND BASICALLY SAID, BOYS GET IT TOGETHER AND TRY AND STAY ON POINT TO THE SUBJECT BEING ADDRESSED. FOR THE RECORD, I CHECKED MY MEDICATIONS JUST TO BE SURE, THAT ROMNEY WAS NOT TRYING TO ACCESS MY MEDICATIONS VIA CHANNELING. WHEN ROMNEY TRIED TO GET HIMSELF ON TRACK, GOING BACK TO OBAMA CARE, HE WAS LOSING HIS WHEELS AND IT WAS SHOWING. AT THAT MOMENT, I SAID THANK GOD FOR MENOPAUSE, AT LEAST HE CANNOT MESS WITH THAT EVENT.

THE PRESIDENT STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE AND I WAS REASSURED THAT MY CONTROL OVER MY OWN BODY WAS STILL IN MY HANDS. WHAT A RELIEF!

John,

Romney won by a good margin. He will get my vote. Obama is a destroyer and would never get my vote no matter what he does.

I think Mr. Obama got the edge last night. I'm not sure what Romney's strategy was by agreeing all night with The Presidents' policy. There was pandering by Mr. Romney to military contractors.

Hi John,

As far as I'm concerned I think we lose everyday living in this city because our problems are locally and that will never change. The city and state politicians from the top level to the bottom and I consider the bottom the most dangerous to our welfare. They have to much money at their fingertips and spend, spend, spend whenever they want, on whatever they wish to control their districts and therefor get as many votes as possible. It always seems as though they can do as they please, break every law and some pay a price which is a small price considering the crimes committed and are allowed to make deals always in their favor.

Thank you John,

Since Mitt Romney is so unpopular he is trying to become popular by adopting many of Obamas' positions, the debate on foreign was just another example of him shifting positions in hopes of fooling the electorate, and judging by the polls it's working.

Obama should gEt another Nobel Peace Prize for not losing it on Romney+saying "Back the Truck up, Cowboy! I'm the President of the U.S.+deserve AT LEAst the same respect I'm showing u, The Emperor w No Clothes who hasn't stopped contradicting himself+jumping on+off bandwagons since the Primaries"

I'm voting for Obama with more enthusiasm now. I would have liked to see 3rd party candidates participate. Hear more opinions.

Romney's mantra has been "creation of jobs". Last evening as well as the last debate he said that the role of the federal government is not to create jobs. Why has no one picked up on this?

Governor Romney is a man that has been constantly changing opinions, beliefs, agendas throughout his whole campaign and these debates -- he seems to be forever evolving. I am not sure who this man really is or who he will be if he wins the presidency. I do know that he has been flip-flopping on pertinent issues for about 6-8 months now. First he leaned toward the agenda of the far right, then conservative and now he almost sounds like President Obama. Last night in the debate it was clearly apparent that this man has no clue about foreign policy. He just kept on agreeing with President Obama's policies from Iran, to Iraq, to drone strikes, to sanctions on China . . . the list is endless. This is a man who will say anything in the moment. Not someone I want in charge of our national security. Although the economy is the number 1 priority right now for everyone there is still a lot more at stake here. Unfortunately people seem to be forgetting this.

Governor Romney -- like an Iguana that sheds its skin -- you never know what color you will get.

PEOPLE MAY NOT THINK SO...BUT IN MY OPINION..THE FIRST DEBATE WAS A SET UP ON OBAMA'S BEHALF..HE PURPOSELY DID BAD ON THE FIRST DEBATE BECAUSE HE KNEW ROMNEY WOULD PUT HIS FOOT IN HIS MOUTH IN THE REST OF THE DEBATE...WHICH HE DID

MCGRIFF FROM BROOKLYN

Call me what you will, un-American or what have you, but I will not vote for either individual. This election will do only two things, put someone in office who is ineffective and not popular, and show how much this country just doesn't want to be helped. In the immortal words of George Carlin "This is what we have to offer, it's what our system produces....Garbage in, Garbage out".

Serafin

Romney was obviously just reciting talking points over and over and he couldn't even do that without stammering - he is clueless about foreign policy and he is a danger to the 99%.

A Draw in terms of presentation; Romney: A+ for Honesty; 0 for O. Obama took Job with zero knowledge of foreign policy, like most before him; learned on the job. Q: How much? Came to Office with zero performance in Congress and Chicago; Little "Change" to date. Time for a real Change.

Mitt keeps getting caught in his lies every debate, what will he lie about if he's actually voted president?

President Obama will definitely be re-elected you can bank on that. Romney has just been saying what people want to hear but he's just flip flopping throughout the campaign, he's definitely not our candidate.

Mr Obama won without question.

You will notice that the moderator Bob Schiefer had to bring Mitt back to the topic at hand, namely Foreign Policy as Mitt made a desperate attempt to talk about the economy

Romney loves to make big claims he can balance the budget and create 12 million jobs but offers no details

Romney assails president Obama on the economy but let's not forget what a mess Bush left Obama, a collapsed economy. The GOP failed America under Bush.

Blaming Obama for the economy is like yelling at the tow truck driver when he comes to pick up your wrecked car

I wouldn't vote for Romney if he was running for dog catcher. Obama totally outweighs him in morals, intellect, vision and truthfulness. Romney is GWB II.

Along with getting rid of the electoral college, I think the presidint should be elected for a 6 year term. No reelection campaign, more attention to business. Less spending.

Susan

What kills me is that it takes a nation to rebuild it self but how an president do so when the opposition refuse to help with either support for programs that are not for the rich or ideas that are not for the rich it takes two to make it happen the president as reached out but only received nothing

David from queens

Clearly Oboma won all three debates...he had a goal and plan from the start. He demonstrated that he had a plan goin in and know what it will take to put the economy back on track. He is for everyone. During his term he fought with the republicans to make change that would benefit everyone...Romney talk about "working with good democrats and republicans"...well who was president Obama working with when he tried to balance the budget. He is for the future and our future is our children and preparing them to run the country...it takes a village to survive...obama is a visionary and we must keep moving forward

Roxanne. Bronx ny.

I think President Obama won the debate. However, you cannot ignore Mr. Romney's strategy going into Florida, a battleground state. Mitt Romney kept bringing "Israel" and what he termed as Obama's poor relationship with them. He was also highlighting Iran's purported nuclear acquisition. Even, after Romney agreed with the president on the intelligence that Iran is no way reaching the stratosphere of a nuclear weapon.

Ike

It's embarrassing to hear Mr. Romney explain his vision for this country. He makes no sense and has no substance in his arguments. If he wins, I will have a hard time getting out of bed after election day.

Cappy

First I will like to say I saw all three debate. What I saw was Mr. Romney losing his temper. In the the first debate. That would make me feel worried if Romney was president. In the second debate yes the president did come back. I felt the way the president and Romney present them selfs in the debate is the way they will run this nation. In the second debate romney talked about Liyba. The president was offended. You can see it in his eyes when he looked at Romney. I think he put fear in Romney heart eith one look. That may be the reason why Romney in the third debate brought it up once in the third debate.Romney was lost in confused in the last debate. It can't take 4 years to rebuild our economy. He going forward and I'll go with him.

Ramon from Astoria

Barack Obama has no more foreign policy experience now then when he started four years ago! The callers tonight are so off point with the facts it's hysterical! Very bad show tonight!

T.S.

Vote for Mitt "Robme" if you want to go back to all the policies that got us into the mess we're in. Vote for "Robme" if you're a moron, a bigot, or a racist, or just plain stupid. No problem. He's not going to win anyway, but let's say he does. At least the people who votes for "Robme" will get exactly what they deserve. Good luck with that! Lmao

Steven Of Jamaica

Feeling much better. Our President delivered again! I would love to ask Mr. Mitt Romney: What part of your comment/statement you made in May 2012, about the 47%, when surrounded by your millionaire friends/donors didn't you mean that my intelligent brain can accept? And I would like to ask Mr. Romney's supporters and backers that must be part of the 1%, What part of Mr. Mitt Romney's statement didn't you understand or forgot? To refresh your memory if possible, I'll post his comment below:

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.” Take the blinds off and understand that we are all part of the 47%. He and his friends are part of the 1%. He is also ready to start a war with Iran, China, the Middle East, but he won't send his sons or family in harm's way, no way!! It's our sons, daughters, friends and neighbors who will fight and many lose their lives. We Do Not want any more wars to increase the rich wealth.

Please remember that.before you vote. Wake up before it's too late for ALL of US.

M.M.

Obama definitely won...how anyone could vote for Romney after all his flip flopping and straight out lies is beyond me...Romney even agreed that it was going to take 8 - 10 years to fix the economy...Obama needs another 4 years to get this country back on track...@ Jessica FAREWELL!!! And NILSA ARE YOU CRAZY it has been proven that ROMNEY IS THE LIAR!!! The fact finders have PROVEN ROMNEY to be the liar!!! Wake up people and research what is being said!!!

Enid

U was talking wih all obama supporters.and who is sympethetic to

B.

Dear John,

The Republicans love people like Raymond from Bayside. If it weren't for people (shmucks) like him, who think that they are voting for their own benefit, Republicans would only have 1% of the vote, and never win! They have to make the dummies think that they exist for the good of the middle class. Obama faced deficits never seen since the Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt didn't get our Country on its feet in four years -- I believe he was a 12-year President. Did he get the same kind of criticism that President Obama has gotten after only 4 years? No President!...No President has ever had to face the deficits that Obama faced at the beginning of a presidential term. Even the Democrats don't highlight the deficit that Obama faced at the beginning of his term! Bush, like his fellow Republican, Herbert Hoover, created a high deficit, but Bush not only created a deficit.....he also spent the SURPLUS.....is that count included in the amount he ran through?

What is going on?...Romney received points for his aggressiveness at the first debate. Then Obama's aggressiveness at the second debate, resulted in his being accused of "being on the attack". Obama clearly demonstrated his competence on foreign affairs at the third debate -- but it was a draw? What's going on? Some people call it racism...I call it ignorance!
