The Call Blog: Mitt Romney To Accept Nomination As Convention Comes To Close

Conventions are used to fire up the base, not necessarily offer specifics. And this year’s RNC was no different; the speeches served up plenty of rhetoric and red meat to the base, but no solutions. I don’t think the RNC changed many minds or won over many independents and I don’t expect the DNC to either. I think Americans are looking for concrete ideas and solutions and hopefully they’re going to get them soon in the debates and other events.

On the final night of the Republican National Convention, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will accept his party's nomination and outline his vision for America. Romney's address in front of supporters in Tampa, Florida will bring the storm-shortened convention to a close.

Republicans sought to win over Americans this week by criticizing President Obama's "failed economic policies." Speeches from Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and Romney's wife, Ann, made headlines across the country. Will it make a difference?

What do you hope to hear from Mitt Romney tonight? What were the highs and lows of the primetime speeches this week? How will you remember the 2012 Republican National Convention? Did it influence your vote?

Send your thoughts using the link above.

The GOP put on the big show to convey a message of truth, justice and the American way. Anne Romney talk about her life, children and what all this means to all women across this nation of ours. She also spoke of this great love in her life which is Mitt Romney her husband who cares for others and only wants what is best for America. Than after that great speech came Gov. Chris Christie who in my opinion is the pit bull of the Republican Party who came out and spoke the truth. He spoke of what's wrong with the current leadership where as he said," It's time to end this era of absentee leadership in the oval office and send real leaders to the White House." I say bravo for that. Real change is on the way with Romney//Ryan ticket.

Mitt Romney has so drastically changed his politics to cater to the right wing agenda of his party that he looks like a lost soul in an empty suit, and at this juncture I don't see how he'll convince independent voters to support him.

Thank God its ending, but we still have the Democratic convention.

He wants an America
From the turn of
The century
No abortion
no women's rights
No gay marriage
I think we have come to far for the discrimination to start sliding back

Does anyone remember back alley abortions and how many women died or We're mutilated If he's going to pay for every aborted fetus school medical and clothing then stop them PS What does a man know about what a woman feels like when she has to chose between a baby or an abortion He doesn't What about separation of church and state ?

I liked Ann Romney, Condoleezza Rice and Paul Ryan's speeches. Cristie's was not the best I've heard from him. I'm anxious to hear what Clint Eastwood has to say, if he indeed speaks tonight.

I haven't been happy with a President since Jefferson. So, Romney is just another in a long line of candidates I'll vote for only because the alternative is even worse.

If it was Obama versus a corpse, I'd vote for the corpse.

Ok, so let me get this straight! Everyone who spoke at the RNC, went from elementary school thru college, bought a car, or used mass transit, bought a home and furnished it, raised a family, started a business, never relied on help from any Ancestor, never got a loan, never needed Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Stocks, or Bonds, never lied, cheated, or stole from anyone and never, EVER, needed Federal, State, or City Govt. help for ANYTHING!!!, in their ENTIRE STINKING LIFE!!! What America do they live in???

I am a registered Democrat, and have been voting since 1984, every time a Democrat takes over from a Republican in the Presidency, he has inherited a mess! So I'm not impressed with the RNC and their unbelievable speeches, Mr Romney has no interest in the Poor, Middle Class or the Elderly!

As a service member who saw the waste the prior administration took part in I will vote for President Obama. The current adminstration took the first steps in correcting the wrongs of the Iraq war, too many troops died for a false cause. I f Romeny wants to get elected he must develope a plan to help the poor. Many cant find work and are living day today the middle class is hurting but are better off then the poor.

Romney is just another Dubbya, but with a few functioning brain cells. That's scary. Ryan is a rumpled Pat Buchanan with no functioning brain cells. Again, scary.

Republican keep pointing out Obama over spent, over sizing an ineffective government. I am amazed how quickly people forget that's all Bush's doing. And yes this country is inn huge debt. That is what happened when Bush spent 6 years into a war for all the wrong reasons when the country/the world is beginning to suffer economically. Hello?!
Not to mention Paul Ryan's opened his speech implying he's sick of Obama's attack, what was he doing yesterday?

Romney pollster has said it best themselves, just one quote:
"We won't have the fact checkers dictate our campaign. We will not let the truth get in the way."
