The turnout may have been low at the polls, but it was a different story on our show. 61% of our viewers said they voted today, adding that they were disappointed at the lack of interest in what they consider a crucial election. I was personally surprised by how many viewers called in to also talk about the total sense of confusion and outrage they felt at the lack of information on the redistricting changes. The polls are open across the five boroughs as New Yorkers vote in primary contests for the House of Representatives, as well as the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. A judge changed the primary month from September to June for the first time since 1974 in a move to accommodate military personnel overseas.

The most watched race is for Congressman Charles Rangel's seat in the 13th District. With new district lines drawn to include more of the Bronx, the 82-year-old incumbent is facing a serious challenge from State Sen. Adriano Espaillat. In addition, tight races are expected in contests to replace retiring Congressmen Gary Ackerman and Ed Towns.

It was not crowded at my polling center and why does this Rangel still have a job. He should be in jail along with the rest of them.

I find it okay that the primary month was changed from September to June.

I voted at 9 AM this morning and was the 6th overall voter in my Election District (42) and the 1st Republican voter. As a matter of fact they had to hunt down the Republican ballots for me so that I could vote. I laughed and told the workers that I now understand what it is to be in the minority!

Disgraceful that Bloomberg, Pelosi and the Gov. backed a corrupt congressman. NY deserves better and Clyde Williams was a better choice. The endorsement of Wrangle is dirty politics as usual. Shame on NY politicians!

I am a District 7 resident. I didn't vote in the primary today because I am a registered independent and therefore not allowed to vote in party primaries. I am 29 and I don't feel the connection to Rangel's accomplishments in Harlem and the Heights that my older neighbors may feel. I don't know much about Espaillat either. I can say, though, that I received an email from the Rangel campaign at 5:55 p.m. today that announced a "victory party" tonight at Sylvia's in Harlem. That didn't sit too well with me, as it seemed quite presumptuous. If I had to make a choice at that moment, it would have been to vote for Adriano Espaillat.

I voted today in harlem. I think voter turnout was low at my voting site. I was told I was voter # 99 at 7 pm. We traditionally have low turnout for the primaries but I thought this time would be different with many candidates for this seat.

I think June primaries is fine.

NY's closed primary system discourages participation. More progressive western states have open primaries. NY should embrace democracy.

I live in Beechhurst , the northern section of Whitestone, Queens. When I got to the polling site, I was informed that there is no Democratic primary in my district, that my neighborhood isn't included in the new redistricting of Gary Ackerman's district for which Ms. Meng and Mr. Lancman were vying, and that Steve Israel will be the (uncontested) Democratic nominee for my area. When did that happen? By whose selection did Mr. Israel get the uncontested Democratic appointment for the Congressional seat? Why wasn't there any publicity or education concerning the nomination in Beechhurst? All anyone heard about was the Meng/Lancman race for Ackerman's district; well, that information was sorely lacking in detail. I am very disappointed that I was not given a choice in this race.

John S. said confused. Clear to me - same thing happened to me. Congressional district lines were changed. Probably as a result of the census. So I am a democrat was in Charlie rangel's district. He faced a primary challenge. I went to vote. Told I am now in Jerry Nadler's district. He didn't face a primary challenge. So I couldn't vote.

Same thing with woman in Bayside. She is now in Peter King's district. She is a democrat. Assume his democratic opponent in the general election had no priomary challenge. So she couldn't vote either.

Should have been more information to public about changes in district lines.

I voted because I always vote and wouldn't miss an opportunity to engage with society. It's our duty as Americans to vote and I am saddened by low turnout. I voted at 8 AM and was the 17th person there. I think a September primary would be more effective; hardly anyone even knew their was a primary today. In case you are wondering, I voted for Clyde Williams, but am not too hopeful that he will win.

The lack of adequate dissemination of the "new" Primary date smells of corruption because all across the city incumbents that represent the Political Establishment/ Machine are ALL fighting for their political LIVES!!! The man had several apartments in upper Manhattan. Two of them were for low income people. He was CAUGHT IN AN ETHICS SCANDAL. He took up law. He shifted the blame on his wife.

Who knows what else he was doing before getting caught.

I no longer trust him, nor did I vote for him.

I am very disturbed about today's low voter turnout. I personally reached out to over 100 people and reminded them to vote. I'm also the president of the Mt Morris Park Community Improvement Assn and we sent out a reminder to over 900 people on our eBlast list. As of 8 pm only 215 had voted! I'm so disappointed, I want Clyde Williams to bring about a positive for District 13 and I don't know what to expect.

We had no information that this was a voting day. Further my husband and I was no. 39 and 40. Sadly it was a poor turn out.

But I does smell like something corrupt maybe taking place, for voters not to be able to vote or turned away to go to another site.

I was #18 ... at 6:30PM. Yes, PM!!!! I think that was the total voters of both parties who showed up for my electoral district. Only race for Dem's where I live, was (incumbent) Rep. Yvette Clarke against someone I never heard of.
