Report: Spike In Crime At City's Large Parks

Crime was reportedly up in large parks across the city last year.
Citing New York City Police Department figures, the Wall Street Journal says 31 large parks saw 354 felonies last year.
That's the highest in five years and a seven percent jump from the year before.
The Journal says local officials have complained there aren't enough Park Enforcement Patrol officers, with fewer than 100 on the job in 2011.
A spokesman for Mayor Michael Bloomberg tells the paper the crime increase stems from just three parks: Prospect, Crotona, and Randall's Island, while crime in others combined went down.
The parks department oversees 29,000 acres of land, or roughly 14 percent of the city.
