A firm that lost hundreds of employees in the World Trade Center attacks announced Thursday it is donating $10 million to families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Cantor Fitzgerald plans to give the money to families at 19 schools in communities hit hardest by the storm.

The first donations went to families from PS 256 in the Rockaways.

The cash cards have $1,000 on them, to be used by the families as they choose.

Cantor Fitzgerald had its headquarters at One World Trade Center and lost 658 employees - two thirds of its work force - in the September 11th terror attacks.
