The city's best known Christmas tree is lit up, which may be the surest sign that the holiday season is here.

The 80th annual Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony took place Wednesday night.

The Norway Spruce is decorated with more than 45,000 LED lights.

The tree is 80 feet tall, 50 feet in diameter and weighs about 10 tons.

It was cut down earlier this month in Mount Olive, New Jersey.
