Sandusky Gets 30 To 60 Years In Sex Abuse Case

A Pennsylvania judge on Tuesday sentenced former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky to 30 to 60 years in prison following his conviction on dozens of counts of child sex abuse.
The 68-year-old was convicted of 45 counts involving 10 boys over more than a decade.
He met most of the boys through his charity for at-risk youth.
Prosecutors and Sandusky's attorneys were pleased with the sentence.
"I think the judge was sending a message that while what was done was serious and it required retribution, it didn't require gratuitous retribution, and I think he balanced out all the good that Jerry has done," said Sandusky's attorney, Karl Rominger.
"I believe that the sentence the court imposed today was a wise and proper one, and that it reflected the seriousness of the defendant's crimes, the harm that he caused, and the need to remove him from society," said Prosecutor Joe McGettigan.
Sandusky maintains his innocence and plans to appeal.
