The city is getting a major financial boost from the federal government for bus projects.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is giving the city a $14 million grant for the "New York City Bus Lanes Project".

The money will go to rehabilitate 20 miles of existing bus lanes, many of which are in poor condition.

Another $24 million will go to the MTA to replace what it calls an obsolete bus radio system and construct a modernized bus command center.
