Costa Rica shocked Uruguay with a come-from-behind victory in their World Cup matchup.

Heavily favored Uruguay jumped out to an early 1-0 lead at the first half.

Costa Rica answered back in the second half, scoring two goals in just three minutes.

They then added a third to come away with the 3-1 win.

Costa Rica fans who gathered in a bar on 33rd Street to cheer for their beloved soccer team say they hope the victory over Uruguay is the first of a great tournament.

"The whole country is excited. This is wonderful. This is something that the whole country is celebrating right now, in New York, Costa Rica, around the world," said one fan.

"I'm so excited. I'm crazy right now and what happened that the last World Cup they eliminated us so now we are giving it back to them," said another.

"I'm really happy that the Costa Rican team is doing great, I'm very proud of them—and Viva Costa Rica!" a third said.

Earlier in the day, New Yorkers with Colombian roots gathered at a Queens bar and watched as Colombia shut out Greece, 3-0.
