The Brooklyn Nets have advanced to the second round of the NBA playoffs following a nailbiter of a Game 7 in Toronto on Sunday.

Brooklyn held the lead for most of the game, but the Raptors came on strong late in the fourth quarter to make things tight.

Toronto's Kyle Lowry had the ball in the waning seconds with a chance to win the game, but his drive to the hoop proved unsuccessful.

The Nets hung on to win 104-to-103 for the first Game 7 win in franchise history.

"I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I just tried to go up when he split the defenders, I went up with him, got my hand on the ball, game over," said Nets Forward Paul Pierce.

"This is a very unorthodox team and they throw a lot of different things at you. In one night it can be a series of different guys to beat you. So this tested us and is preparing us for what we have to deal with now with the Heat," said Nets Center Kevin Garnett.

The Nets will now face LeBron James and the defending champion Miami Heat in the second round Tuesday night.
