Yankees starting pitcher Ivan Nova will undergo Tommy John elbow surgery that will sideline him for at least the rest of this season.

Recovery time is usually between 12 and 18 months.

Nova was pulled from the game on Saturday in Tampa after hurting his elbow on a pitch.

An MRI taken the next day showed a partial ligament tear.

He decided to get the surgery after getting a second opinion.
