Knicks point guard Raymond Felton is facing multiple counts of criminal weapons possession after turning himself in to police earlier this morning.

Police say Felton and his lawyer went to the 20th Precinct on the Upper West Side just hours after the Knicks lost to the Mavericks at the Garden last night.

Sources say Felton's wife had brought a handgun to the stationhouse yesterday afternoon.

Published reports say the couple is in the process of getting a divorce.

Felton is charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, including possessing a firearm, having it loaded, and possessing an ammunition clip.

He is expected to appear in criminal court in Manhattan later today.

Felton, 29, signed a three-year, $10 million contract with the team prior to the 2012-13 season, but was the subject of trade rumors prior to last week's trade deadline.

This is not the first time a professional athlete has faced weapons charges in the city.

In 2008, former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was arrested after accidentally shooting himself in the leg when his gun went off inside a Manhattan nightclub.

He later accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to two years in prison. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
