The Yankees' new pitcher, Masahiro Tanaka, donned pinstripes for the first time Tuesday.

The right-hander is coming off a 24-0 season and a championship win with his Japanese team.

He signed a seven-year contract with the Yankees in January worth $155 million.

Tanaka had only a few words to say in English at Tuesday's news conference.

"Hello. My name is Masahiro Tanaka. I'm very happy to be a Yankee," he said.

Through a translator, Tanaka said that his number one goal with the Yankees is to win a World Series.

He also said that former Yankees outfielder Hideki Matsui told him that New York is a great city to play in.
