The Knicks' first regular season game in the renovated Madison Square Garden was a success.
The Knicks blew a 25-point halftime lead to the Bucks Wednesday night, but went back in front for good on a Tyson Chandler dunk with just over two-and-a-half minutes to play.
New York would go on to win 90-83.
Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 19 points.
The Knicks play again Thursday night in Chicago.
Meanwhile, it was not as good a start for the Nets, who lost their season opener in Cleveland 98-94.
Brook Lopez led Brooklyn with 21 points.
Paul Pierce added 17, but missed a shot with about 20 seconds left that would have tied it.
The Nets play their home opener Friday night against the Heat.
