City sports fans are remembering longtime radio host and TV anchor Bill Mazer, who died Wednesday in Connecticut.
Mazer came to the city from Buffalo in 1964 and hosted a sports-talk show at WNBC radio.
He also worked at WOR and WFAN.
Mazer later created and anchored "Sports Extra" on Channel 5.
"He had an ability to fuse sports and life together he could translate sports into a meaning for the time we were living in and that was perhaps his greatest gift," said Mazer's son, Arnie Mazer.
Mazer was given the nickname "Amazin" for his incredible memory of sports facts and figures.
Bill Mazer was 92 years old.
