The Brooklyn Nets will be without their new head coach as they prepare to kick off a new season later this month.

The National Basketball Association says Jason Kidd has been suspended for two games for pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge after he crashed into a utility pole on eastern Long Island last summer.

The former NBA All-Star retired last season and was quickly hired to coach his former team.

General Manager Billy King issued a statement saying, "The decision is consistent with what the league has done in the past and we look forward to Jason leading our team versus Orlando and the rest of the year." ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
